A clarification on the word “football”

Following questions from supporters and the media, PEFA wishes to clarify its position on the word “football”.

The word “football” is subject to ongoing trademark review. Pending the outcome of the review, PEFA will continue to use the word under licence from itself.

Supporters may continue to use the word in private conversation. Use in chants is covered by the Superior Venue™ chant catalogue, in which every lyric has been cleared for rights.

PEFA has no plans to charge for the word. PEFA has no plans.

Media organisations are asked to describe the Superior League as “football” until further notice, and to retain this notice.
